Walking in Truth
As the apostle John neared the end of his life, he made this statement: "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth" (3 John 4). Why did he single out "walking in truth" as a supreme goal? Would we say the same? Do we know what it means? Some emphasize relationship over doctrine to the extent that many areas of truth are deemed non-essential. Others seek oneness by trying to lay aside any issues that divide. But the Holy Spirit is given to "guide us into all truth" (John 16:13), and Jesus himself declared that He is the Truth. The scriptures, the witness of the Spirit, and fellowship with others work together to keep us walking in truth. Our function in the body of Christ is also key, for the church is "the pillar and ground of the truth" (1 Tim. 3:15). The Message of the Cross
"For the message of the cross is the power of God" (1 Cor. 1:18). Probably every believer would agree that the message of the cross is central to our faith, and the basis upon which God is building today. But do we really understand what God did through Jesus Christ on the cross, and how it affects our walk of faith every day? Paul was persecuted for the message of the cross (Gal. 5:11), yet he said he would boast in nothing else (Gal. 6:14). Would we say the same? We know that the cross deals with the root problem of mankind, which is sin. However, the way it solves the problem is more comprehensive and glorious than many have yet comprehended. The Gospel of Jesus Christ: From With to In

In times past, the Holy Spirit was with men at times, but Jesus paid the way that God may now dwell in us all the time. This is the gospel, the "good news," the very heart of our salvation: Jesus baptizing us with the Holy Spirit to make us one with God, true sons of God, and members of His own body--with power to live the very life of Christ on earth. Divorce and Remarriage - The Significance of Union
Divorce and remarriage are some of the most serious problems the church faces today, and many viewpoints abound. This booklet is based on the premise that God's overall purpose is union: union between God and man in salvation, between husband and wife in marriage, and between Christ and His bride in the church. Seeing clearly in one area can help us to see clearly in another. In the marriage relationship God holds a picture before us of the relationship between His bride (the church) and Himself. The heavenly relationship goes beyond the earthly relationship, but both cooperate to reveal the mind of God to us. If we accept a lower idea about either relationship, our concept of the other will suffer as well. If we can better understand God's perfect, far-reaching plan for mankind, and His full provision for all to enter in, our understanding in these difficult matters will become solidly established on the reality of God's love and eternal purpose. The Righteousness of Faith
What is the righteousness God requires? Is real righteousness possible, or is it only an ideal we aim at? Does it involve keeping the law? Some today believe that the ceremonial and civil parts of the law have passed away, but the Ten Commandments are still in effect; thus, along with the other nine commandments, Christians must keep the Sabbath. Is this true? If we do not clearly see the difference between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant, we may find ourselves as the Galatians, struggling to attain the righteousness of God by our own efforts. Paul told them they had fallen from grace, and had been severed from Christ, so these are important issues. Let us not be robbed of the simplicity of our salvation. The scriptures are clear, but we also need a revelation of what God has done in Christ and who we are in Him. Growing Up Together Into Christ
"...Till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children..." These statements from Ephesians 4 are so challenging as to make us almost afraid to inquire more closely. Often we earnestly desire to grow up in God but we do not clearly see the way. What is this unity of the faith? Does God truly require such a perfection of relationship? The purpose of all proper ministry and the supply of God coming through each member is to attach us to the Head and grow us up into Christ. This is God's perfect plan, the new man created according to Christ Jesus, and can only take place together with our brothers and sisters. Woman, An Honored Vessel
Woman: specially designed by the hand of God from a part of man, given back to the man by the hand of God as a helper comparable to him--to be joined together again by God himself, never to be separated by man. How much more special and honored could one be! What a beautiful beginning to a perfect relationship, yet this was the very first thing to come under attack by the enemy of God, and probably the greatest target he has concentrated upon ever since. Should we wonder at the great confusion and conflict that centers upon women and their place in the world and in the church?
